Somerset T20 Sunday League

The Somerset T20 Sunday League, sponsored by Scoreboards Online, is a cricket league founded in 2023 designed to encourage young cricketers to make the step into senior cricket. A league purely focused on the fast-paced and exciting T20 format; 8 teams compete throughout the season before the top 4 battling it out on Finals Day held at Shapwick & Polden CC.

In it’s first season the league had 8 teams with 28 games of cricket being played and over 100+ U18s playing within the competition. The Finals Day saw a crowd of over 250 people watching Middlezoy CC, Wembdon CC, Uphill Castle CC & Bishops Hull CC compete to lift the trophy.

Scoreboards Online are proud to be the title sponsor for the Somerset T20 Sunday League.

Requirements:

On a Finals Day at a neutral ground there was always going to be a requirement to convey the score in as easy a way as possible. The day was forecast to be hit by rain so a DLS calculation would be needed at some point, and the scoreboard needed to be portable in order for maximum flexibility (different people were going to sit in different spots).

With Shapwick & Polden’s ground being quite big the scoreboard needed to be easily visible from anywhere across the pitch and needed to be able to be controlled from within their score hut next to the pavilion.

Our Solution:

Scoreboard Online’s proposal was to use one of our 22-Digit Cricket Scoreboards. These scoreboards use PlayCricket’s tablet app (PC Scorer) and automatically show the batter’s names and the DLS par, should there be any sudden rain.

The integration into PlayCricket was key as the officials used this as their main method of scoring. This meant nobody extra was needed to control the scoreboard as it was all done automatically. The mobile option meant it could be easily wheeled onto the other side of the pitch, and all spectators always had a nice clear view of the score. The scoreboard was on throughout the day and the 12v battery mounted to the trolley kept the board going through both the semi-finals and the final.
